Dear Friends,
To all who heard Vice-President Cheney's recent
threat that if anyone other than President Bush ends up in the White House in
November that "we could take another hit" (as in 9-11): Just
for once, I do believe Dick Cheney because, as with 9-11, such an
attack would benefit only him, Bush and their neo-cons!
Secondly, only someone in on the planning of such
an attack would expect it to happen, since just about everyone else in this
world is hoping to see Bush & Co voted out of office and would rejoice if
it happened...including our terrorist foes.
What, then, is the conclusion many will draw from
Cheney's bizarre statement? That the unthinkable--which so many have
tried not to accept after 9-11-- may be true after all;
that the neo-cons, in their urgent need for a "new Pearl Harbor"
(see their own writings), might have helped instigate and facilitate 9-11 and
that--perish the thought--they are prepared to repeat a similar bloody
stunt to stay in power! Who else
would benefit? No one.
I pray I'm wrong, but don't be surprised if they
do.
